Working Hard

2018 is coming up on the halfway point and it has already been a blast of a year. The trip to Namibia was incredible. Between the travel, the people, and the experience of being in such a new and different place, I am forever changed. I am thankful to the amazing people we met during our travels because they are what made the journey truly special.  I was happy to return home with nothing more than the minor hitch or two; and after a brief acclimation period, it was back to work. I am currently constructing a synopsis of our trip, which will be posted to this blog in segments. My hope is to give a comprehensive description of our trip without publishing a novel. I will start publishing them regularly in the next week or so. I hope you enjoy our crazy adventure and as always, thank you.

Measured Leap of Faith

I could be an engineer. I could be a good engineer. But for me to accept that fate and embrace the corporate world and all that comes with it would mean that I would have to leave a piece of myself behind. It's a piece I cherish and have nurtured my whole life. It is the adventurous part that wants to explore without bounds. The part that wants to thumb its nose at convention and the monotony of an average life in the 21st century. It is the part of me that has an unquenchable thirst for understanding people, the world, and life. I do not mean this to sound as dark and bleak as it inevitably does, because people can live a fine life conforming to society and convention; but I feel that I have an opportunity at an extraordinary life. One that will reach out and benefit everyone I hold dear to my heart. I understand the risks that come with a leap of faith; which I am pretty sure sure picking up and spending three weeks on another continent surely qualifies. I have dissected and reconstructed in a constantly repeating loop since the day our idea was conceived; all the while adding the data I acquire along the way to the system of equations, developing a greater understanding. I am confident that we are on the right path; I believe that we are ultimately “on to something.” If this is your first time visiting this blog, or you keep coming back for one reason or another, thank you, and I promise it's about to get real interesting.

Back In The Saddle

It has been a year since our last post. In that time we have built a new (much better) website, sold some jewelry, and expanded our brand. It has been a long year, but a very productive one. Whats next for Kosbare? Well we are finalizing the first of many vendor events we will be participating in this year (more details to come).  The biggest news is the trip we are taking to Namibia. So far its myself (J.P.) and Oskar, with Zach a firm maybe.  This will be an opportunity to immerse ourselves in Namibian culture and make new contacts with artists and craftsmen in Southern Africa. The trip will take up almost all of April and will see us spending time in Zurich (for a 12 hour layover), Johannesburg, and various places in South Africa and Namibia. It will be my first time in Africa and I could not be more excited for the opportunity and adventure that is ahead of us.  If you are reading this, the third installment of this blog, then you are an early follower of our adventures and I would like to thank you. We appreciate your support as we try to build something beautiful out of our hard work.

The Begining of Something Great

Every idea that has changed the world had a beginning. Sometimes it's an explosion of ideology and support; sometimes it's born in a college apartment over a few beers. Ours was birthed from hours of philosophical debate; sharing goals and passions that gave way to a beautiful idea. We want to help people; nobody in particular, we just want to improve the lives of as many people as we can. Instead of taking our engineering degrees and settling into cushy desk jobs and spending the next 30 years according to someone else's plan, we wanted to create something that is bigger than the sum of its parts. We want to spend the rest of our lives working towards the greater good of humanity. Help as many people as we can and never compromise our dream. That is the purpose of Kosbare.
